Baw Baw artists capture the character; a diverse group of artist’s portraits. Sculptors, water colourists, acrylic and oil artists come together to showcase local portraiture.
Since 2006 Baw Baw Shire has allocated funds to purchase local artworks. Its aims are “To gain for the Shire a real and appreciating asset and to inspire”. Works are selected with the assistance of the Arts and Cultural Advisory Committee giving reference to an agreed criteria. This is a rare opportunity to view some of the collected works.
NAIDOC celebrations are held around Australia in July each year to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. NAIDOC Week 2013 will be held from 7 to 14 July however this WGAC exhibition will continue for the entire month of July.
In a series of linocuts, printmaker Helen Timbury has illustrated the beautiful Haiku and Tanka poetry of writer Rodney Williams. Prints and cards of Helen’s work and copies of Rodney’s book A bird-loving man (Ginninderra Press) will be available at this exhibition.
